About Us
Teapooo is a traditional family-run online tea shop located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. It was founded by Mr. Huang and his sister, who have been involved in the tea business for many years in the small city of Ya'an in Western China.
Ms. Huang And Her Family's Tea Plantation
As early as the 1930s, the elders of the Huang family opened a small tea house in a Western Chinese city to make a living. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of war, the small tea house was forced to close after ten years of operation. The family left the city and moved to a remote mountain village, renowned for its tea cultivation in Western Sichuan. In this small village, the younger members of the Huang family followed the elders to learn about tea—its cultivation, consumption, and production. This experience forged an indissoluble bond with tea, and they became deeply fascinated by it.
In recent years, the younger generation of the Huang family, like millions of other young people in rural China, aspires to work, live, and settle down in China's big cities after finishing college. Mr. Huang, a tea enthusiast in the family, lived in a big city for nearly 12 years but decided to return to his elderly parents and help them manage the small tea shop, which is about as old as he is. Since childhood, Mr. Huang has been learning about tea—how to drink and cultivate it—and it has become an indispensable part of his life.
Mr. Huang believes that tea is not only a drink to quench thirst but also encapsulates the delicate and implicit thoughts and emotions of the Chinese people. Therefore, he dedicates himself to studying, making, and tasting teas, meeting friends over tea, and appreciating the charm of tea art and tea ceremonies. This has become a source of enjoyment for him and his friends who share a love for teas.
Every year, numerous tea merchants from around the world come to China to purchase teas. Typically buying in large quantities, the challenge lies in controlling the quality. Subsequently, these teas reach ordinary consumers through exquisite packaging and various marketing methods, contributing to the global recognition of China's tea leaves.
Mr. Huang learned about many high-quality foreign teas in China, carefully selecting excellent Chinese teas from their places of origin. He recommends these teas to foreign friends who enjoy teas by post, bringing them great joy. Encouraged by his friends, Mr. Huang decided to open a small online tea shop, write articles about tea, and introduce some good teas to tea lovers worldwide.
Differing from other large tea wholesalers, our tea is sourced directly from the producing area in small quantities. We avoid excessive commercial brand packaging, always prioritizing simplicity as the best approach.
To ensure the quality of our tea, it comes from producers (smaller or lesser-known producers, family workshops, and local tea farmers) who use traditional methods to produce tea.
